Rev. Edward Davis, Pastor
Pastor Davis has been pastor of St. John Lutheran Church and School since January of 2003. Pastor Davis received his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis and has over 30 years of pastoral service with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. He currently teaches the 7th and 8th grade confirmation class. Pastor and his wife, Becky, have three children, all of whom graduated from St. John. In his spare time, Pastor Davis enjoys reading and watching old movies.
Mrs. Terri Schmeltzer – Administrator
Mrs. Schmeltzer is in her 7th year as school administrator at St. John and holds a B.S in Marketing from the University of Cincinnati. Upon retiring from Procter & Gamble in 2002 after 27 years, Mrs. Schmeltzer volunteered for St. John before becoming the administrator. She and her husband, Mark, have three grown children and one grandchild. The Schmeltzers are members of St. John Lutheran Church. Mrs. Schmeltzer is an avid sports fan and enjoys reading, music and spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Wendy Slack â Pre-Kindergarten â 3-Year-Olds
Mrs. Slack earned a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and a M.Ed. from Chaminade University in Honolulu and has spent over 30 years in early childhood education as a teacher and administrator. She was born in Indiana, grew up in northern California and lived in Hawaii before returning to Indiana in 2008. She has taught at St. John for 3 years. Mrs. Slack resides in Rising Sun with her husband, Stan and stepson, where they are active members of Rising Sun Church of Christ. She enjoys visiting her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren in Denver, gardening, cooking, arts & crafts and reading and learning.
Ms. Christina Caddell â Pre-Kindergarten & Extended Care Co-Coordinator
Ms. Caddell holds her CDA certification from Ivy Tech State College and has had numerous years of experience in daycare and preschool settings. She is in her 9th year at St. John currently teaching the 4-year-old Pre-Kindergarten class. Mrs. Caddell has also taught K-8th art for the past 7 years. She has 3 children and resides in Aurora.
Mrs. Angela Burkhardt â Kindergarten
An alumnus of St. John school and a lifelong member of St. John church, Mrs. Burkhardt graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She began teaching at St. John in 2002 and is affectionately known as “Mrs. B”. She and her husband, Matt, have two children and reside in Aurora. In her spare time, Mrs. Burkhardt loves to cook and read. She serves as Treasurer of the Aurora Public Library District Board.
Mrs. Kimber Ampt â Grades 1 & 2
Mrs. Ampt has over 20 years’ teaching experience, most of it at St. John. She is a Synodical graduate of Concordia College in St. Paul, Minnesota and taught Kindergarten and Pre-School at St. John from 1989-2002. She returned to St. John in 2008, teaching grades 3 & 4 before moving to her current classroom. Mrs. Ampt and her husband, Rick, have three children, the youngest a 6th grade student at St. John. They reside in Aurora. Mrs. Ampt enjoys watching her daughter play soccer, volleyball and basketball. She also enjoys reading.
Mrs. Krista Elliott â Grades 3 & 4 & Music
Mrs. Elliott graduated from Concordia University â River Forest, IL and is in her 9th year of teaching in a Lutheran School, the most recent five years at St. John. Mrs. Elliott also teaches music to all students. She and her husband, Pastor Paul Elliott, our assistant Pastor, reside in Cincinnati with their daughter and are expecting a second child in February. In her free time, Mrs. Elliott enjoys baking, making crafts and traveling to see her family.
Miss Karla Patton â Grades 5 & 6
Miss Roberts is an honors graduate from Hanover College with a degree in Psychology and Elementary Education. Upon graduation, she began teaching at St. John and is now in her 7th year with the 5th/6th classroom. Miss Roberts resides in Bear Branch and will be married to Mr. Andrew Patton in June. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Aurora. Miss Roberts loves teaching and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. In her spare time, she loves to visit amusement parks.
Miss Emily Fehr â Grades 7 & 8
Mrs. Lynda Ross â Aide & Extended Care
Mrs. Ross has an Associates Degree from Ivy Tech Community College having also attended Brevard Community College in Florida. She has managed multiple Check ‘N Go locations, was part of The Athletic Club’s staff in its first two years, and most recently worked at Farm Bureau for 12 years before joining St. John’s staff. Mrs. Ross and her husband, Greg, have three children who all attend St. John and they are also church members. In her spare time, Mrs. Ross enjoys reading, the outdoors and spending time with her family.
Miss Amelia Miguet â Extended Care
Miss Miguet is in her second year at St. John and is also the Director of the Pre-School program at Bethlehem Lutheran in Greendale. She holds a Director of Christian Education (DCE) from Concordia University in Austin, Texas and interned at Holy Shepherd Lutheran following graduation. Before coming to St. John, Miss Miguet was a camp counselor at Briarwood Retreat Center. She enjoys reading and spending as much time as possible in Texas with her fiancÃ©, Stephen Wolking.
Mrs. Karen Neuendorf â Hot Lunch Director
Mrs. Neuendorf has been with St. John Lutheran School for 9 years, initially as the afternoon Pre-Kindergarten teacher and as the Hot Lunch Director for the last 5 years. Prior to St. John, Mrs. Neuendorf was a Systems Engineer with Electronic Data Systems. She and her husband have three children, all graduates of St. John, reside in Aurora and are members at St. John. Mrs. Neuendorf enjoys sewing, quilting, knitting and cooking.
Ms. Lisha Seibert â School and Church Office Manager
Ms. Lisha began her work with St. John as a part-time office assistant and has been the full time office manager since 2003. She is often the first contact for calls and visitors to the school. She manages all of the church and school financial accounts, is responsible for church and school communications, and is often the school “nurse”! Ms. Lisha has three children, all of whom are graduates of St. John. They are also members of St. John. In her spare time, Ms. Lisha looks forward to phonecalls from her son in Okinawa, Japan, and enjoys spending time with her granddaughter, Ava. She also enjoys crocheting and crafting.
Mr. Greg Ross â School Custodian
Mr. Ross is in his first year as school custodian at St. John. Originally from Highland Heights, KY, Mr. Ross has worked in the trucking industry throughout his career as an owner/operator, mechanic and driver. He is currently driving for Aloisio Trucking. Mr. Ross has a grown son and he and his wife, Lynda, have three children who all attend St. John. The Ross’s are members at St. John. In his spare time, Mr. Ross enjoys car racing including Nascar and dirt racing.
